Commercial Wire Design worked with MidMed & QLD health to develop and design a flexible and sterilisable hospital storage solution that would allow individual drawers and baskets to be run through an autoclave and fully sterilised.
MidMed an Australian, family-owned medical equipment supplier and Commercial Wire Designs client was asked by QLD health / Queensland Children’s Hospital (Lady Cilento) to help make improvements to ICU storage. The storage needed to be able to be disinfected and/or steam cleaned.
Together Queensland health, MidMed and Commercial Wire Designs went through several design iterations and improvements, each time incorporating the feedback from Doctors, Nurses and hospital staff on the floor to improve and make the attachment as user-friendly as possible.
Summary

Key areas of focus
The key focus of this project was to ensure that the storage was flexible and able to be sterilised Time was spent working with the QLD health to guarantee that the finished product was fit for purpose.
